Product Categories

Every item files under a category, and a category can carry an HSN code and tax rate that pre-fill the item form — set them here once and new items inherit them. Open it from Reference Data → Product Categories.

Add a category with its HSN code, then delete it — the whole loop in under half a minute.

What you can do here​

  • Add a category — Add Category, then a name (required), an HSN code, and a tax rate.
  • Edit — the pencil on any row; changes apply to new items, not retroactively.
  • Switch a category off — the toggle hides it from new-item forms without touching existing items.
  • Delete — the bin on the row, with confirmation.
Each category row carries its HSN code, tax rate, and an on/off toggle — the blue ring marks Add Category.

Good to know​

  • A fresh business starts with a small generic list — reshape it to your trade; items require a category, so keep at least one active.
  • Deleting a category that items still use is refused, with the reason shown — switch it off instead.
