Returns & Credit Notes
Every sales return starts from the original invoice: pick it, say what came back, and the screen restocks the goods and issues the GST credit note. Open it from Sales → Returns & Credit Notes.
What you can do here
- Take a return — New Credit Note, find the invoice (by number, party, or phone — counter bills included), enter the quantity coming back per line, never more than what's still returnable.
- Restock or write off — the Restock checkbox puts goods back on the shelf; untick it for damaged goods, recorded as a write-off instead of sellable stock.
- Refund how it suits — Cash or UPI (both show as money out in the Day Book), Adjust against balance, or Replacement.
- Settle and track — notes are Open until marked Settled; print or download the credit note PDF from its view.
Good to know
- Cancelled invoices can't be returned against.
- A serial-tracked line returns whole or not at all — a partial return can't say which unit came back.
- Deleting a credit note reverses its restock — for returns recorded in error.
