Quick onboard
Everything between "I don't have an account" and "I've raised my first invoice". RetailDek walks you through this in the app too — this page is the same path, written down.
1. Start your free trial
-
On the sign-in page, select Start a free trial.
-
Enter your Business name and pick your Business type from the list.
-
Choose a username — the form checks availability as you type and suggests alternatives if yours is taken.
-
Enter your email, your 10-digit mobile, and a password (at least 8 characters, with a letter and a number).
-
Accept the policies and the data-processing consent, then select Start free trial.
Your account opens immediately, signed in, with a free trial — no card required. You are the Admin user of your business.
A reminder showing how long your free trial has left appears from your very first sign-in — that's normal, not a problem with your account. Maybe later dismisses it.
2. Take the welcome tour
A welcome dialog greets you once, with a 7-step tour of the sidebar: Dashboard, Inventory, Sales, POS billing, Purchases, Reports & GST, and Staff & settings. Step through it or select Skip tour — every screen the tour mentions has a guide here, and each section's overview page names the app menu it covers.
3. Finish the setup checklist
The Dashboard shows a Finish setting up RetailDek panel until the required steps are done. Each step links straight to the screen where you do it:
| Step | Required? | Where it happens |
|---|---|---|
| Complete your store profile — name, address, and tax details for your invoices. GST details and bank/UPI are optional sub-steps. | Required | Admin Console → Settings → Company Profiles |
| Add what you sell — by hand or from a spreadsheet you already keep. | Required | Inventory → Items |
| Set up your invoice print — paper size and what shows on the printed copy. | Optional | Admin Console → Print & Documents |
| Add customers or suppliers — you can also create them while billing. | Optional | Contacts |
| Turn on cloud backup — a copy of your books off this machine. | Optional | Admin Console → Database Backup |
| Raise your first invoice — the point of all of the above. | Optional | Sales → Sale Invoices |
The checklist reads your real data — it marks "Add what you sell" done when at least one item exists — and disappears on its own once the required steps are complete.
4. Or explore with sample data first
On an empty store you can load a ready-made demo store for your industry — electronics, kirana, pharmacy, apparel, and more. Load it from the welcome dialog, or any time from My Account → Utilities → Sample Data. Every demo record is marked [Sample], and Remove sample data deletes them all without touching anything real.
Sample data can only be loaded while the store is empty — once real billing starts, the option goes away.
Where to go next
- Dashboard — the screen you land on every day
- Inventory → Items — build your catalog properly
- The rest of this guide is grouped by what you are doing — setting up, selling, buying, closing the day. Each section's overview page names the app menu it covers, and every page opens with the path to that screen in the app.
